Superstition: Losing a tooth in one’s dream

This is one of the most feared superstitions I’ve ever encountered. What wrong would it do if we believe in it? I really don’t know except that it purges fear in me like the effect that tragic plays do. (more…)

World’s Realities

World’s realities…I’ve been thinking about what to put in my blog lately. I first thought of posting my research proposals and class submitted papers so that I won’t think much about these stuff.

Again we have our own realities. I mean, I’m the kind of person who had been told “Nothing poetic about it…”, “bad prose”, “Scrap the whole poem, retain the title”… It’s painful to get those remarks from our Poetry class but hey! My revising reality slaps me in the face. Honestly, I haven’t done any except for the principle of sticking with the requirement date. Friends, I tell you doing what I DO IS SUCH A MISERABLE THING. If you really want top impress your teacher, please do otherwise or suffer his/her/the professor’s slips of the tongue(lucky, if they’re just slips…ahahaha painful ones worst embarassing ones). Well, lucky me I don’t take them as destructive criticisms(I’m a hopeless roma…um optimist). If ever you get them.welcome them.they’re inspiration coming right out of the teacher’s blues. Anyway, if there’s a class I’d like to get them(criticisms), it’ll be poetry. I just love my classmates there(maybe except___) because in poetry each of us knows when to meditate or bluff(LOL) when we can’t find the right words. Actually I was suppossed to talk about the movie Slumdog Millionaire and now I end up sentimentalizing.

Let’s go to what sir Timothy told us about: that “The Philippines is actually the only country who/which/that has a literary man as a national hero” these aren’t actually the exact words.

I always think of it now, and I ask myself How?(uy, rhyming)/ Why? What if it was Andres Bonifacio who made it as a national hero? I don’t know really. But there was always something about a statue in most parks that made me ask who is he?” when I was young. Just this morning I reported about Amado V. Hernandes and his poem “Aklasan.” I was bothered byu what E. San Juan Jr quoted that the artist had said something about “Bakit sukdulang napababayaan ang mga manunulat sa wikang bernakular?”

Whew…my brain neurons popped(eww, what a morbid image so final-destination-thingy).It made me think about my being a BA English student(why not medicine?nursing?). I don’t know if I could even make something such as a real work of art or rather what they call “masterpiece.” (forgive my lapses, again this is an unrevised post).

Well, if ever your mind boggles over many things remember this: Chill. It’s worth wasting time when you’re about to have a nervous breakdown right?

I’m always the smiling type when I love what I’m up to… So hang on April. It’s a tough ride but I know you’ll get through(with so amny wonderful people surrounding you)

World’s realities….uhuh…tsk..tsk…slips of the tongue.

Totally outrageous

Well, there are really stuff that make us say “That was outrageous!” I can’t imagine myself saying that especially when I’m so awe-stuck by a lot of happenings in the world. Forgive me for my blog doesn’t contain certain entertainment news. My schedules are cluttered with so many things pending. I’m in a wait list on the other tasks that I still have to do. I don’t even read newspapers nowadays. I hope I could still comment on other peoples’ lives especially the Hollywood stars or local celebrities of the Philippines.

I wish I had more time to sit and do somethings better than dozing in class. Boring life that’s surely it.

UPMindanao Football Festival

Yesterday the football festival of the varsity did go well, I think. It was such an honor to wear an armband as a sign of being the captain of the team. It was then that I’ve remembered the famous line in Spiderman “With great power comes great responsibility.”
But hey! I felt so burdened wearing that thing. I thought that I’ve been asked to wear a chain. I felt the need of proving myself. I needed to stand up high and mighty. These didn’t happen though.
Actually, I was the most unlikely captain that a team could have because I remained so silent that one couldn’t hear me squeak. I was saddened by the thought of our teams losing.

Thank God I have my team with me. There were those who helped me realize that I don’t have to pursue feigning courage, rather thye made me realize how I should play with fun.
Self-evaluation:
I’m not a thinking player or maybe I’m just too slow to think while playing
I’m easily discouraged… well all of us are sometimes
I’m a very destructive person ( I always end up tearing all my shoes)
I easily bruise

once I get these things straight I’ll be indestructible!!! hehe

I have many wishes for the team that I dream of being its major sponsor someday…yehey!

Go UP Gooooo!!!!!

from Coach:”Soccerly yours”

a

This picture was taken during the 11th UPMin Ladies Football Festival.

Soccer peeps…

In relation to the annual soccer celebration every February, the team organizes a football festival, wherein they themselves conceptualize the awards. This team effort has been handed down to succeeding generations by the UP Min Ladies Football Varsity. The first football festival was held at the CSM field in 1997 February 9th.

Up to this day, the UPMin Ladies Football Varsity Team continues to exist not only for themselves but also for a team and for the university. It is not a question of passion that remains but the love for it. It is not a question of who made it in history; rather it is about the value that one gives outliving many memories.

cI have been a member since March 15, 2006 and at present. You know there is always one thing about playing soccer that keeps me from quitting; it is because of the team and because of the people behind it.

Sometimes I feel sorry that others had to say na “UP lang man na” It is how they underestimate us. We are indeed bringing the name of the university. I don’t blame them anyway because their burdens don’t include coping up with difficult-to-manage academics. It’s all too normal lang naman talaga. It’s not because we value our academics more rather it is because of other considerations in our lives. I don’t really know each of our constraints but there is one thing that goes for each of us: the passion for soccer( if this is all too vague to understand, then let it be as inexplicable as it goes for me) Personally, I wanted to stop playing soccer a few years back. I just thought that I don’t have the skill for it, the time for it. I’d put it on the least of my priorities, but all the while it stayed there…the more it asked for attention. (more…)

Three 8th grade girls are summoned from Tokyo Towers into a magical new land called Cephiro. Upon arriving they meet Master Mage Clef, who explains to Hikaru, Umi and Foo that they are to become the legendary Magic Knights who will save Cephiro from Lord Zagato and his Minions. He gives them evolving armor and magic, just as one of Zagato’s Minions interrupts them. He directs them to see a blacksmith named Presea to acquire weapons that evolve.

Their armor and weapons evolve as they grow in strength, emotionally. After receiving their weapons they are given Makona, an adorable creature who guides them through their journey. Literally supplying them with anything they need.

Their next step is to revive the Rune God, fighting monsters and Zagato’s Minions along the way. After reviving the Rune God they will become Magic Knights and then be ready to fulfill their mission to save princess Emeraude.

Fan-antic

Nowadays, its really everything about getting hot. The weather seem too hot that one could think that were really on the verge of facing Global Warming. This is really a threat. After all the CFC issues I realized that maybe we could prevent ozone depletion by using ceiling fans instead of air conditioning that costs much. I’ve seen many documentations especially the one which Al Gore presented and it was quite alarming how the Earth is really heating-up literally. But this is such a grave issue to discuss so why not consider using ceiling fans instead. Yup! I’ve seen them in most homes already. And there are things such as craftmade ceiling fans, ellington fans, and fanimation I’ve seen on the net. These fans work as decorations that can even be disguised through a chandelier!

It works like magic! In our house, we’ve had almost three ceiling fans and two stand-up fans. Without any prejudice, I really prefer ceiling fans that the latter because the air is well ventilated inside the house. The warm air is cooled down. And so are the homes where there are fans around. This makes the head of our irritated mom cool! You see you can always beat the heat whenever you decide from being creative and reasonable in home considerations. You can always be a fan-antic anytime when there’s heat to beat. (- o -)

Atubang sa Kawad-on(Upon Facing Nothingness)

Samut kong nabati,

na adunay mga butang nga dili mamahimong ako-

sa dihang malantawan ang hulagway mo.

Kun ibasol mo kanako

ang sala akong angkunon

alang kanimo

Samut kong nabati,

Nga dili palabihon ang gugmas kasing-kasing

Kay dili kini atol sa oras paghinigugma-ay.

Easy Help For My Dream House

It’s where everything should start- Dreams and later still dreaming of it more. In that way, one can think of aspiring for one’s goals in life. I’ve always had dream houses even when I was still young, I used to draw on sheets of paper scribbled constructions of my dream houses. The concrete houses I see on subdivisions aren’t as grandiose as the houses I dream of building in the future. And I start to live in that dream.

Then I wondered about the difficulty I’d encounter for the maintenance of such a big dream houses. Where would I get help in fixing things? I won’t always have time to check in tool and hardware shops to find all things I need. It would cost me much time. But the habit of delaying repairs can ruin a household eventually if taken for granted. So there’s always a need to make one’s self worry free from all the hassle of housekeeping. I came to realize that it doesn’t matter that one won’t be able to build one’s own dream house, what matters is that a simple house becomes a welcoming home.

basketball tidbits

Dr. James Naismith is known world-wide as the inventor of basketball. He was born in 1861 in Ramsay township, near Almonte, Ontario, Canada. The concept of basketball was born out of his early school days when he played a simple game known as duck-on-a-rock outside his schoolhouse. The game involved attempting to knock a “duck” off the top of a large rock by tossing another rock at it. This is the beginning of a brief history of basketball as we know it.

Naismith served as at the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA in 1891, and this is where the sport of basketball was born. Naismith was faced with the challenge of finding a sport that was suitable for play inside during the winter for the students. Naismith wanted to create a game of skill that could be played indoors in a relatively small space. The very first game of basketball was played with a soccer ball

and two peach baskets used as goals. The history of basketball started right here.

James Naismith devised a set rules for these early games as follows:

„« The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.

„« A player cannot run with the ball, but instead the player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it.

„« The ball must be held in or between the hands, not any other body parts.

„« No shouldering, holding, pushing, striking or tripping in any way of an opponent is permitted. The first infringement of this rule by any person shall count as a foul; the second shall disqualify him until the next goal is scored.

„« If either side make three consecutive fouls it shall count as a goal for the opponents (consecutive in these rules means without the opponents in the meantime making a foul of their own).

„« A goal is scored when the ball is thrown from the ground into the basket and stays there. If the ball rests on the edge of the basket and the opponents move the basket, it shall also count as a goal.

„« When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field and played by the first person touching it.

„« The umpire shall be judge and have the power to disqualify or foul players as required.

„« The referee shall be the judge of the ball and decide when it is in play in bounds, to which side it belongs, and shall keep the time.

„« The time shall be two 15-minute halves with five minutes’ rest between.

„« The side scoring the most goals in that time shall be declared the winners.

Today basketball has grown to become one of the world’s most popular sports, all thanks to Dr Naismith.
