A Purgatory
wow…
earlier we had a soccer practice at the admin field with Coach Erwin, janver, bilbz and me. We’ve done numerous (by this it would suggest it hurts kinda thing haha) headings/headers. It was really painful to the forehead and pimp sprouts…ewwwness.
anyway before that I woke up at 4 am and I sort of fell back to sleep. Then I had a dream
It was in the CSM like hallways. I was the first to take the test. Inside a room there was a counter where a lady stood, she gave me a piece of paper. Yup it was unreadable then all of a sudden images flashed before my very eyes. I was shrieking to no end. just then it ended.
When it was my other batchmate’s turn, we were asked to go outside.
Three of the others went to explore the other rooms. They had the intention of qwatching what was happening inside the room we left. Just then, there inside the room they went to, there were three beds and also a tv. They were so curious that they turned the television on. and they were very happy to see that it was a video stream of what was happening inside the room we left. Then the videochanged: it was featuring the room itself but now witth three demons on the bed. It was horrifying

Movie:The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
oh my gosh…
it was really an experience watching it.
I was amazed with how the story progressed. Isn’t it wonderful that movies can actually teach us more of life? If you get to watch the movie check out this site: benbutton. I’m really sure if you have gotten hanged over for such gorgeous guys in hollywood you’d get hooked with Benjamin Button’s character Brad Pitt. Wheww…
I can still remember their stunning lines:
“Make love to me.”
“Absolutely.”
whewww…Geez! Even though it’ll take you much time you’ll not regret every minute.
Guys, always lavish good stories wrought well into good(or let me take it as wonderful) movies.

fragrances
I have the knack for things that smell good. I like how a baby smells, because it sort of sweet to the nose. I like the scent of flowers and even the smell of some old books. I like smelling things because it is part of knowing more about them. I always hate getting to sit beside people who smell, I dislike stinky places especially in markets where there are fleas hovering above you and worse landing in your face. I don’t like bad smells because this means that such things are dirty. I’d stay away from those.
Yeah, to smell good, in a hurly burly day, I pour on colognes. I admit that there really are scents that sort of hurts noses, in a way that such perfumes smell very strong that it almost makes one dizzy. Indeed, I can admit that being human, means getting to sweat or smell in some time one way or another, but one can always feel fresh by buying colognes or perfumes.
There was once when I had to ride with my crush and Gee, he sat beside me. It was just mere paranoia that I imagined him frowning. What if I smell bad? The thought was excruciating, just then he said, “You know we had just passed on garbage stacks from that bend. It wasn’t just a horrible sight it also smelled foul.” He then smiled. Of course, you can’t imagine the relief I felt! I learned now the importance of bringing handy cologne bottles, in case of such encounters. It’s not only to impress people, its also goes for personality. It’s almost a hygiene that all people must learn. In fact, there are a lots of scents to choose from, there are different varieties. It’s as soothing a seeing flowers!

Fan-antic
Nowadays, its really everything about getting hot. The weather seem too hot that one could think that were really on the verge of facing Global Warming. This is really a threat. After all the CFC issues I realized that maybe we could prevent ozone depletion by using ceiling fans instead of air conditioning that costs much. I’ve seen many documentations especially the one which Al Gore presented and it was quite alarming how the Earth is really heating-up literally. But this is such a grave issue to discuss so why not consider using ceiling fans instead. Yup! I’ve seen them in most homes already. And there are things such as craftmade ceiling fans, ellington fans, and fanimation I’ve seen on the net. These fans work as decorations that can even be disguised through a chandelier!
It works like magic! In our house, we’ve had almost three ceiling fans and two stand-up fans. Without any prejudice, I really prefer ceiling fans that the latter because the air is well ventilated inside the house. The warm air is cooled down. And so are the homes where there are fans around. This makes the head of our irritated mom cool! You see you can always beat the heat whenever you decide from being creative and reasonable in home considerations. You can always be a fan-antic anytime when there’s heat to beat. (- o -)

Mat Mania
In our CL 150 class we have discussed the story entitled “The Mats” by Francisco Arcellana. It is indeed a very moving piece. It revealed how a family is tied through relations and how each is affected by the deaths of loved ones. The significance of mats is shown in such that these things have been part of life. There I’ve read that mats were significant to the Garcia family. The father took home gift for each member a mat which was embroidered with their names and icons which represent their dream careers. But at the later part, I realized the feeling of the father for having lost his own children. The story was heart wrenching yet it was very expressive of the happiness that was once there evident in the family’s completeness. Then, I appreciated mats as they are.
Nowadays, mats are used for decorative purposes and also for any other uses for mats have been revolutionized to fit needs. Along time ago, mats were only made of Abaca or plant fibers but now through modern technology they are made more pleasing because of their various colors and textures. Anyhow I also love watching mat weavers because each intricate design is painstakingly done.
I’ve seen mats everywhere whether be it on beaches and picnics. This is because mats are convenient to carry in any type of excursions. When my friends and I went to have a picnic, I brought along with me a checkered cloth but it was not good enough to sit on because the grass was still moist and wet from last night’s rain, the picnic was almost ruined if not for the mat that another friend brought. We had a fun time watching the clouds and birds that early morning. I did feel how comforting it was to spend a morning together with one’s friends be it on the beaches or picnics when everyone huddles on a cozy mat.

“Rest In Pieces”
Cause this hurts deeper than I thought it did
It has not healed with time
It just shot down my spine. you look so beautiful tonight
Remind me how you laid us down
And gently smiled before you destroyed my life
Would you find it in your heart
To make this go away
And let me rest in pieces
Would you find it in your heart?
To make this go away
And let me rest in pieces
Would you find it in your heart?
To make it go away
And let me rest in pieces
Look at me, my depth perception must be off again
You got much closer than I thought you did
Im in your reach
You held me in your hands
But could you find it in your heart?
To make this go away
And let me rest in pieces
Would you find it in your heart?
To make it go away
And let me rest in pieces
I really like this song it seems so sincere to a loved one. Hope you’ll like it too…

the mole superstitions
Love life….
I’m so messed up when I come to this topic it’s b’coz I don’t look forward to this side of life. I don’ know why I am currently blocked from love’s path. When will my knight come? I think I will never meet him anymore…
Yesterday, I sat with Itak, my aunt’s kasambahay, when our subject came to moles. I have a teeny weeny mole on my neck, then she said
“kabalo ka pasabot ana kay maghinakug ka sa tawo nga imong higugmaon…Hala ka do.”(Don’t you know that-that means you’ll be possessive of the person you will love…)
She also told me that having a mole on the shoulder part means that that person will carry burdens and problems “Ang sa abaga dapit nagapasabot nga maglukdo ka og kalisud sa kinabuhi…”
Wow I’ve already undergone Lit Trans in CL 185 but I think the vernacular tongue gave me the most terrifying impression coz: I have one in the left shoulder part!
I do know that these superstitions aren’t really factual, but I have doubts…
So what awaits me… is yet to unfold in the years that will come eventually

Musings: An Essay About Performance Art
With the performance art challenge, I first had two pieces in mind. The first one entitled “Musings” was supposedly about the bounds of being a woman in a society. The other one is about the self-expression. The former was rejected because it was too common while he former was further developed into the final performance art piece. There is one thing that I noticed on most of the performance art examples shown to us in our CW 120 class: the pieces had themes about the Self. This for me is a good thing to start at. It is because one should be familiar with one’s piece and everything about it. The most important thing to consider is the concept because this is where the performance would be based. At the first instance, I only had an idea in mind later I realized that a more technical term could be related to my concept about the self. The social psychology theories were the bases for my piece. I wanted something to do with a soccer ball since, I was to do self-expressing. I wanted a piece that I know of, I wanted something that partly reveals my self. Soccer for me is an important sport. This game helped me realize the value of myself, of the team and of enthusiasts. I play when I feel depressed, play when I am happy and play when I want to get away from everything else. Every time I see the soccer field, I long to be as carefree as a rolling ball. I won’t care if I’d sweat or smell after playing, all I care about is the game I had in mind. That is why my concept is about it. I want a performance that I’d not dread doing. I want a something I’d love to do. I wanted my performance to be about myself.
I used materials such as soccer ball, candle, three cones, cloth and play money. These served as representations of the words I wouldn’t utter. The ball even signifies my self- black is for the pessimist mode while white is for optimism. The cones arranged in the triangular formation represent society. In soccer, this formation is essential in play. It enables three players to have an advantageous position and passing in the field. This also represents the three things I mentioned earlier – realize the value of one’s self, of the team and of enthusiasts- these three are also evident in any performance art piece. These in a performance art piece would be the concept, performer and the audience/spectator. The limits of space are set by the cones like how one is within the society. There are boundaries such as regulation and law. Each cone covered with white, green and black cloth symbolizes innocence, life experiences and death respectively. The candle detail wasn’t present in the libretto but in the final presentation, I had a lit candle to represent the time duration of innocence and life experience. It was placed inside the black cloth-covered cone because in the end upon blowing the candle the presentation would end, and this suggests death. The play money revealed my judgment of a person- their value based on my impression of them. The act should appear as light-hearted and playful as how it is in a soccer game. In the end, exhaustion wearies out the person thus, the ball is kicked hard and the candle is blown off.
Dio Chrysostom, a Hellenistic critic on a lecture said “On Knowing God, painters and sculptors invest the God with the human body, the vessel of wisdom and reason, seeking to manifest the imageless and unseen in the visible, which can be portrayed”[Preface to Plato, Bosanquet's trans.]. In the performance art piece the message of the concept should be conveyed to the audience/spectator. As in Joycean statement that literature emanates meanings, discovery through concrete objects, those materials were essential for my piece so that the audience/spectator would trigger interpretation.
I retained the title “Musings” because I like how light the word sounds to the ears. The impression it gives me is like that of how fun it is to think of things that one likes. The title seems self-revealing. One muses of many things most of the time. The libretto was in turn, the script to be followed for the performance. There was a step by step process on how the performance would progress.
When the final presentation came, the changes tied the whole concept together. I considered the site to be an area where most people pass by. I just wanted them (passers by) to stop for a while. I intended this for the performance without straining somebody to find the venue. The audience/spectators were cooperative enough. The performance art piece was interactive. The materials in the piece should allow the audience/spectators to understand it within the limits and range of his/her own perspective and life experiences (qtd. from Fineberg). There were revisions on the libretto for improvement.
I added some details because the first script was incomplete. (more…)
