Superstition: Losing a tooth in one’s dream

This is one of the most feared superstitions I’ve ever encountered. What wrong would it do if we believe in it? I really don’t know except that it purges fear in me like the effect that tragic plays do. (more…)

The Cello( Asian Horror Movie)

Lately I’ve been having fun watching Asian Horror Movies. These are just some of the sure hit movies made specially wonderful because of the whole new experience learned after watching each.

“The Cello”- This is a story about jealousy. Two best friends, I’m sorry I forgot their names because they were foreign names, one excelled over the other and the other one envied for being second best. I didn’t realize the twist at first, that made me so thrilled that I wanted to keep the film run faster. I almost cheated when I forwarded the scenes.Well, here goes, I thought that the one who lived was haunted by the envious friend turned ghost.. This ghost was after all the victim of her friend’s jealousy. I remembered feeling the emotion in this line: “I believe that friends are happy for what success the other gets.” In the accident that almost took their lives, she who was envy let go of her friend’s hand. Her friend fell into the rocks by the cliff. It’s such a sad friendship story and it all ended tragically for the one lived in guilt and was gotten killed also by vengeance. They were both good cello players but they did not blend in music and friendship. I hope that that never happens to anyone again.

I don’t have enough time, guess, I’d do another next time. Thanks.

The Revolutionary Road

c1

Last night, me and my boardmates watched this movie. earlier that morning our fiction teacher Prof. Montes told us that if we want to cry over a novel read Yate’s The Revolutionary Road.”

It was such a tragic story that made me feel like crying if not for other people’s presence. I don’t want to end up like them. But you should really watch it, it has many gender issues wherein both roles of man and wife are explored.

Forgive me, I really can’t have a movie review about it because I don’t yet know how it feels to be in their shoes. But this I can say the movie rocks!(Not to mention that me and the character share the same name “April”).

World’s Realities

World’s realities…I’ve been thinking about what to put in my blog lately. I first thought of posting my research proposals and class submitted papers so that I won’t think much about these stuff.

Again we have our own realities. I mean, I’m the kind of person who had been told “Nothing poetic about it…”, “bad prose”, “Scrap the whole poem, retain the title”… It’s painful to get those remarks from our Poetry class but hey! My revising reality slaps me in the face. Honestly, I haven’t done any except for the principle of sticking with the requirement date. Friends, I tell you doing what I DO IS SUCH A MISERABLE THING. If you really want top impress your teacher, please do otherwise or suffer his/her/the professor’s slips of the tongue(lucky, if they’re just slips…ahahaha painful ones worst embarassing ones). Well, lucky me I don’t take them as destructive criticisms(I’m a hopeless roma…um optimist). If ever you get them.welcome them.they’re inspiration coming right out of the teacher’s blues. Anyway, if there’s a class I’d like to get them(criticisms), it’ll be poetry. I just love my classmates there(maybe except___) because in poetry each of us knows when to meditate or bluff(LOL) when we can’t find the right words. Actually I was suppossed to talk about the movie Slumdog Millionaire and now I end up sentimentalizing.

Let’s go to what sir Timothy told us about: that “The Philippines is actually the only country who/which/that has a literary man as a national hero” these aren’t actually the exact words.

I always think of it now, and I ask myself How?(uy, rhyming)/ Why? What if it was Andres Bonifacio who made it as a national hero? I don’t know really. But there was always something about a statue in most parks that made me ask who is he?” when I was young. Just this morning I reported about Amado V. Hernandes and his poem “Aklasan.” I was bothered byu what E. San Juan Jr quoted that the artist had said something about “Bakit sukdulang napababayaan ang mga manunulat sa wikang bernakular?”

Whew…my brain neurons popped(eww, what a morbid image so final-destination-thingy).It made me think about my being a BA English student(why not medicine?nursing?). I don’t know if I could even make something such as a real work of art or rather what they call “masterpiece.” (forgive my lapses, again this is an unrevised post).

Well, if ever your mind boggles over many things remember this: Chill. It’s worth wasting time when you’re about to have a nervous breakdown right?

I’m always the smiling type when I love what I’m up to… So hang on April. It’s a tough ride but I know you’ll get through(with so amny wonderful people surrounding you)

World’s realities….uhuh…tsk..tsk…slips of the tongue.

Movie:The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

oh my gosh…

it was really an experience watching it.

I was amazed with how the story progressed. Isn’t it wonderful that movies can actually teach us more of life? If you get to watch the movie check out this site: benbutton. I’m really sure if you have gotten hanged over for such gorgeous guys in hollywood you’d get hooked with Benjamin Button’s character Brad Pitt. Wheww…

I can still remember their stunning lines:

“Make love to me.”

“Absolutely.”

whewww…Geez! Even though it’ll take you much time you’ll not regret every minute.

Guys, always lavish good stories wrought well into good(or let me take it as wonderful) movies.

Of Brains and Neurons

Alzheimer and Auguste D are two people whose lives have been intertwined by fate. Alois Alzheimer was a psychiatrist in the Castle of the Insane. It was maybe in Germany. I’ve forgotten the details because it was so long ago that I had reported about them.

I felt very bad because it’s so sad that some people especially those old folks lose memories. How sad that is! I don’t want people losing their memory because some of them we vowed to remember for the whole of our lives. It is a slow death isn’t it? Because sooner one would forget everything even chewing food! Do you think life is so complex that we don’t know what answers our main questions? I think I can’t help but feel sorry when that time comes.

When Alois Alzheimer asked Auguste some questions, she gave inconsistent answers. It was only when she died that the doctor asked the hospital if he could ask for the brain of his patient. Then and there he examined the preserved brain and saw that there were neurobrifillary tangles. The nerves of the brain were entangled together that it was the cause why and how the function of the brain went haywire. The folder about the physician’s first patient diagnosed of Alzheimer’s disease was found years only in the dust laden archives of the hospital (now a museum).

I saw a picture of Auguste in the magazine where I learned about this. I saw that her frail body has stopped fighting against reason and life. Her life has ceased when she was diagnosed with what then seemed a queer ailment, and memory like fuel was spent in her remaining days.

If sentiment is bad for a person then I wouldn’t deny that I’m always inflicted of it. There are times when I always look around and press myself to remember this very same day so that I won’t forget a single detail.

So all you guys out there please TREASURE all the memories you have especially with your loved ones. It’ll be worth it. If the brain stops working then let the memories freeze for another Alois to discover.

BUSINESS as usual

I’ve been wandering inside malls and one thing that I like about window shopping is that I get to discover many events. At the atrium of the Gaisano Mall of Davao, I saw many booths offering their delicacies at very affordable prizes.

I don’t only see booths but also service tables where there one can inquire about service. These exhibit booths are found almost in any store for the convenience of the customers. It also a good way to sell products or services such as those in trade show displays. Nowadays, I think people are discovering more ways and means to cater each and everyone’s need-whatever they might be.

I bet each one of us wants to personalize our stuff, well here’s a nice discovery…

have you ever been in a shop where even the place mats not only contain “WELCOME”s?

well, I just knew that a shop can even own logo floor mats! whew. Imagine that kind of personalizing!

I just learned something: For you guys out there, if you want to invest in business, invest then to gain profit and make your business rock!

I have seen a performance then and I remembered well that the whole event was made extraordinary by the foundation-truss which molded the set into an enchantment- equipments.

Even business is a kind of performance!

“Pill” Healthy

My roommate Alliya is on a diet. She keeps on asking for our advice regarding what to do to lose weight. Of course, we told her to cut eating too much and to exercise daily, but if she doesn’t pay attention to what we’ve said, she could be at risk. I think part of why people have low self-esteem is because of obesity. But this is not only what’s alarming because most people nowadays tend to set aside health in favor for work or study. Whatever our reasons are, we should never neglect our wellness.

There is technology to make us thin through liposuction and the like. But some people fear it, some must even take financial considerations. Technology costs much, and anyway what are we in a hurry for? We can’t always make haste the things in our lives especially when we’re the ones at fault.

I have seen a best option for Alliyah: How about diet pills? But with the market  flooding with many products how will she know which diet pills that work? Indeed, another choice is to get all natural. Why not go for herbal diet pills? These are the best diet pills for people because these are made using natural ingredients that are helpful to the body. If you settle for security go for safe diet pills, you won’t regret it. Look at it this way: these pills provide you a solution for your weight problems and at the same time nourish your body n a natural way. A great help would be control of one’s self. Choose healthy, choose the best.
